VINO

June 5, 2018

It’s coat season and I am so prepared to unpack the layering essentials from the storage. Do you guys pack away summer and winter clothes? I literally don’t have enough closet space to keep both all year round, but the mission is overwhelming and I wish I had an Instagram worthy walk-in cupboard. But the reality is I either do another sale/ throw out/ giveaway or continue to pull out creased crumpled bits of clothing that don’t even have their own hanger to live on.

POORBOY

May 10, 2018

Bakerboy hats, newsboy caps, poorboy; how fashion surprised us with comebacks every few years still gives me the shivers. I can remember wearing this trend as I left high school and started and university. Crazy how thats about 10 years ago, and even crazier how this trend just reinvents itself over and over again. After a serious power moment in the 90s with poorboy caps making headway at Chanel & Versace they died down and made room for the fedora, beret and it’s floppy boho counterparts. Now hunting for one of these before the made rush of fast fashion meant digging one out from the garage stash (of things I can never chuck out) / hunting in vintage or second hand stores and then finally a client from London brought me one as a gift in January this year and voila I was back on trend. Since then I have been posting on Instagram stories every time I find a new one in store for all you beauties to shop too in SA! Its May now and most of our retailers are on it, so finding them hasn’t been such a stress – but I found the holy grail last week. A black with gold chain trim and big buttons, just like the Chanel one all the supermodels rocked in the nineties, and it’s never leaving my head! Had to go all out after finding it, so here’s a look I’m rather into right now. I’ll link what I can below for you to shop.

SOCIAL PAJAMAS

May 6, 2018

Is there anything easier than living in a jumpsuit? Yes it’s a hack during a bathroom situation but most of the time you in a cubicle alone, so whatever. Think of a romper as your baba-blanket, your security, sanctuary and by far the easiest outfit to travel in, especially if the fabric is super floppy. Socially acceptable pajamas are the future. So thats what I wore all weekend long. Also what are your thoughts on chopping them to a culotte length?

NAVY DAZE

April 4, 2018

We’ve been staying in the city quite a bit these past few weekends, and as much as I would like to say I’ve really been enjoying it; I’m starting to feel caged beyond. I really crave the fresh air, the open landscapes and of course the adventure. That being said I have been able to catch up with friends, and wear pretty dresses that might feel out of place in the bush. Maybe I just need to be more active in the city, we are so close to nature here in Cape Town. And also maybe I need to stop complaining about not being away cause I sound like a broken record. Winter is fast approaching so camping trips will soon be out of the question, but I do have a list of cute cottages and fireplace friendly getaways (maybe I should do a post?) in the Western Cape. NOT CORPORATE

April 2, 2018

Misplaced these pictures a couple weeks ago somewhere deep in my laptop (please tell me this happens to normal people as well) but managed to locate them over the long weekend! I remember putting this look together on a day I was feeling uber ill, and wanted something warm as it was overcast but somehow less corporate. And thats when the Victorian blouse came in, keeping it soft and whimsical, creating the perfect 830am spreadsheet tax meeting look. Other than that I bought this suit cause I felt ridiculous not owning at least one matching business look, even though I might never actually work a 9-5pm power job. I love how the pieces can be worn separately as well, the blazer looks great with jeans and the trousers are the perfect cut for a slouchy knit.
