The white knit.. something I have managed to stay clear of until the “mature” age of 27. Finally I felt I was ready and grown up enough to maintain a day out wearing white. This may just be a metaphor; another way of understanding responsibility and growth. Somehow connected or simplified into fashion talk so my overactive brain could process whats happening around me. And what exactly is that? I guess a shift in career, a shift in mindset and of course a planetary shift – Jupiter squares Pluto at 17º Libra resulting in a death and subsequent rebirth regarding some of your world views and the things you have thought to be true up until this point (for those of you you don’t have an esoteric mother who shares every astrological movement via text or FB messenger).
Finally Cape Town is basking in rain, much needed as our dams are at an all time low. But I shot these a couple weeks ago outside a cute coffee shop when the city was still dishing out sunshine and beach days.
A wondering day roaming the coastlines of Cape Town found us this little spot. I must say as adventurous as Luke and I are we never really explore the outskirts of home. We usually venture further to really feel like we’ve left the city, however on our beautiful public holiday this week we did a day drive to Pringle Bay and found this remote and private beach area. With stacks of sand dunes and no one for miles, we set up camp for the day and feasted under the sun.
Fashion Week 2.0 – this time with a cooler location, less wind (not by much) and a rather large designated parking area. Stand-out shows for me personally included Ituen Basi, the assortment of designers at Fashion Revolution, Taibo Bacar, Vernac and Stefania Morland. I was hoping for a more interesting hype from some of the other African designers, but it seems 3rd year fashion school crafting is still the norm there and by our own hands.
Orange Tab is the latest collection of reinvented vintage by Levi’s. You know that good ole denim brand that keeps reworking the classics… this time round with a 70s flare, a couple stripes and the ever trendy logo tee. I’ve been living in their logo tee’s for the past couple months. Let’s say a slightly more affordable option to insta-famous Gucci, while still holding enough heritage to knock you to the floor.
